Pricing is varied because of the custom nature of our pergola structures.
The price range for virtually all styles falls between $65 and $125 per square foot, including shipping. Size is measured from the center of the post or column to the center of the opposite post or column, in both directions: length and width.
The actual size of the covering will extend a minimum of 18" on all four sides beyond the post-to-post measurement. The style of the pergola will determine the amount of overhang a pergola will have.
Factors that will affect the square footage price fall into three basic categories:
Aesthetics: How detailed the posts, rafters or brackets are, i.e.: a Victorian paneled structure vs. a simple contemporary design. Longer spans of beams or rafters can also add to the square foot cost.
Engineering: A pergola that can be secured and stabilized by putting posts directly into cement footings is less costly than developing a bracket which will safely attach a structure to a rooftop.
Function: Functional aspects that can affect cost are varied. Two examples would be if the structure is to provide a significant amount of shade or if it is to support an aggressive wisteria vine.
However, the cost including design, presentation model for approval, hardware, material (see Details/Materials), instructions and shipping does average between $65 and $125 per square foot.
We are often called to design within a budget constraint. This can be resolved in our initial conversation. Once the basic aesthetic is determined, along with how the structure is to function, we can often create a design which falls within the budget requirements. This can result in very interesting and creative outdoor structures.
