Large Rooftop Pergola  No. RP7

This roof top pergola in Manhattan was an interesting solution in that the pergola is not attached in any way to the building.
This request by the client resulted in an extremely stable structure incorporating a combination of planters, large curved brackets and a weighted post placed on an anti-skid rubber base. One of the planters was re-created to match an existing planter and provided a perfectly integrated solution for the site.
The upper perimeter beams were created as an architectural frieze that incorporated a pullout-shading device. The beams also serve to protect the shading device from high winds.
The structure was specifically designed for delivery to the rooftop by bringing it up inside the building so as not to incur the cost of a boom truck.
